#243/365--Sibling Rivalry

If you keep up with my blog, you recognize my refrigerator white board...it's the same one Mikey wrote a note on last week (or so) for me.  He also wrote a poem to me soon after.  Lauren decided it was her turn to write a note for me.  What's discouraging is her spelling.  The thing is...she does it on purpose.  That's the "thing" now.  And.  As a teacher...it frustrates the living daylights out of me.  But the note is the sweetest!  Well...I mean it's one of the two sweetest notes a mom can get... :)

#240/365--Blasts from the Past

Ok, I had one of these when I was little.  When I saw this at Target today, I almost bought it just because!!  :)

And then, I found these...another throw-back!  Of course I had to get a few boxes for my kinder-class, especially since they were $1.00/box!!

#239/365--Post-It

Much like little children find joy in a simple cardboard box, my children have found joy in Post-It notes.
Ahh. Simple pleasures.

#234/365--Secret Message

Mikey wrote a note to me on our refridgerator white board before he went to bed:

You sort of have to ignore the rest of the board...randomness.

#233/365--Leapin' Lizards

It's so hot in Texas, even Lizards crossing the sidewalk are dying...

...poor little guy.

#227/365--Brunch

Lauren made a delicious brunch for me, this morning.

And for awhile, the kids enjoyed being kids. My nephew, Joshua, is here for the weekend with my mom.

Then, we took the kids shopping.  Here is what boys do while girls are trying on clothes:

And since we knew they were so bored, we took them to Toys "R" Us.  This is what transpired there...

#224/365--Summer Reading

"Reading is so boring MOM!!  Why are you making us do this??  This is torture!!"

#223/365--Rangers VS. Yankees

We arrived at The Ballpark in Arlington around 6:45, prepared for an exciting game.

 Our GREAT seats...

Nelson Cruz, batting...

Mike and I, loving the first 5 innings of the game

Naftali Feliz coming in to try to save the game after we gave up 5 (or so) runs...

and...Josh Hamilton, Nelson Cruz, and David Murphy discussing "what just happened??" after the Yanks scored on us several times--gaining a one-run lead.

And...that's how the game ended...7-6, Yankees win.  There was so much excitement in the air until around the 6th inning, despite the heat.  Then, it was as if someone sucked all the air out of the ballpark and left us deflated.  Not jumping ship, though....Rangers are still 7.5 games ahead in the AL West pennant race and I still say, "Go Rangers!!"  We'll face those Yanks again!!

#217/365--Pottery

First, the kids chose their piece...
Then, they picked out their paint colors and began painting:

The finished product:
and it's off to the kiln they go! The kids get to pick up their fired work next week.
After a morning of painting, we spent the afternoon at Bedford Splash.
Summer will be over before we know it!!
